Posting a quick Snippet from my upcoming release, ADAPTED, Book Two: ICE.

“Solomon,” I whispered, trying to pull out of his embrace. “We need to talk.”His arms relaxed around me as a bemused look crossed his face. “Right now?”
“Yes,” I said confidently. “There’s something I need to tell you.”
Solomon brushed his cool finger along my cheek and then cupped my chin in his palm.
“I already know,” he said before kissing me again.
I didn’t argue this time, allowing him to kiss me as heat swarmed through my body, each nerve ending prickling underneath my skin preparing to explode.
There’s no way he doesn’t notice this, I thought. as his cold lips continued to caress mine, and the reality of his words settled. He already knows.
Instinctively, I wrapped my arms around him, but my moment of relief was short-lived as the prickling became sparks burning beneath the skin and making their way to my palms. I needed to do something, and quickly before any part of me erupted into flames.
“I need to get out of here,” I said, pulling away from him and turning to run towards an exit. The corridor was littered with small groups of people walking casually as they talked and joked, unaware that, by any strange turn of fate, they might end up running into a self-combusting teenage girl. I picked up speed and made my way to the nearest fire exit which led out into an alley that ran alongside the club.
“Hey,” Solomon called, grabbing hold of my arm before I could push the door closed.
“I’m fine,” I said as I tried to pull my arm free. “Just give me a few minutes.” Solomon’s strength was beyond what I had imagined, and his grip didn’t yield under my pressure. He pushed the door closed and led me to a dark corner of the alley.
“It’s okay. I promise,” he said, taking my hands into his and easing my palms open until they lay in front of him. “Show me,” he said.
